- Pour the filtered water into a tall glass.
- Add the baking soda and stir continuously for about thirty seconds until it is fully dissolved and no gritty texture remains at the bottom of the glass.
- If using lemon juice, add it now and stir gently. Expect light fizzing, which is a normal acid base reaction and not an indicator of effectiveness.
- Drop in the crushed mint leaves for flavor if desired.
- Drink slowly rather than gulping it down, ideally twenty to thirty minutes before a meal.
- Limit this drink to a maximum of three to four times per week rather than daily use.
